Winning an Adobe live graphic design competition.

TEAM
Jae Jin (Co-Designer)

GOAL
My partner and I competed as one of six design duos competing in a live graphic design competition. We were given three hours to design around the theme I Always Think It’s Forever.

CONTEXT
Adobe Creative Cafes are community events designed to bring together students, recent grads, and young creators. Attendees can connect and learn through workshops, talks, and activities featuring Adobe tools, guest speakers, and creative challenges.

The Memory Pond

We interpreted the title through the lens of memory, designing an interactive pop-up gallery in Central Park where visitors could share half-forgotten memories. Artists would then illustrate these memories on the spot and add them to the gallery, creating a collaborative space where everyone could contribute and experience the evolving collection.

Our quick thinking and creativity won both the Audience Award and Judge Award, evaluated by industry professionals from Disney, Penguin Random House, and Amazon. That day, I set my mind on what I want out of a career: to collaborate with passionate designers, contribute fresh ideas, and have fun doing it.

KEY INSIGHTS

    1. Designing at speed builds confidence
Working within a three hour sprint taught me to trust my instincts without unnecessary polishing. I learned that speed can sharpen creativity!

    2. The best ideas are co-created
Collaborating closely with a partner showed me how quickly ideas improve when they are shared. We could build ideas in real time and give each other feedback. Strong design is not individual: it comes from open communication.
