Animations for the band Brea Fournier and the Dream Ballet to post on socials and Spotify.

GOAL
Create a series of narrative animations that represent the narrative of Brea Fournier and the Dream Ballet’s album, Manic Pixie Dream Girl. The album is about a girl reclaiming her identity as a Manic Pixie, and so the animations represent her embodying the stereotype.
PROCESS
I started by listening to the album and pulling out recurring symbols I could animate. The most frequent ones (also, obviously, symbols associated with the Manic Pixie) were Tarot cards, hair transformation, and girly objects.
I decided to create a series of short animations which could be used separately as Spotify banners or stiched together to post on Instagram or TikTok. When put in order, they would tell the story of a girl who sees a pink-haired Tarot card and decides to cut bangs and dye her hair pink. I also developed some freestanding animations of her taking SSRIs, putting sunglasses on, or playing the guitar, all important objects in the album.
The color scheme needed to represent the Manic Pixie, too. I picked pink, obviously, because of her hair, as well as green (the complimentary) and blue, mostly for backgrounds and details.
